This is basically the same as the "if you really loved me" argument. It's controlling and manipulative and sure as heck not a legitimate argument in the slightest. Respecting someone does not and should not equate to following their orders. Also, it's really awkward for me whenever she seems upset and this topic comes up, because I'm literally the only person in our friend circle who tells her that I'm worried and gives her suggestions to do other things.
